Use FUNCTION STATS to read the current state of the function engine. The reply reports the function that is running right now, if any, together with how long it has been running and the command that started it, plus per-engine counts of loaded libraries and functions. It is the usual way to check whether a long-running function is in progress before deciding to call FUNCTION KILL.
